DONNA SUMMER COVERAGE

DONNA SUMMER CONCERT AT CLEARWATER (FLORIDA, USA) - MAR 16, 2005

REVIEW BY JACKSON TAYLOR

The weather was terrible that night; very cold heavy rain and tornado watches - that didn't stop our girl or the fans, however I managed to catch an awful cold and have been in bed ever since - not to mention that I have had 4 back surgeries since last August. Anyway -- here are the details, unfortunately, no cameras were allowed so no pics but she was INCREDIBLE!!

She had a full string section as well as horns and her hubby was one of the back up singers. She played for 1 & 1/2 hours straight. She opened with a musical medley of her hits and then when the announcer said "Ladies and Gentleman....Donna Summer" the music started with the piano from MacArthur Park (my all time favorite) - she even sang the middle verses (which she has been known to skip) - I was absolutely brought to tears!!! She was charming and talked about so many things, she danced around and her voice was the best I have heard in years. She has gotten a bit chunky in her mid section but wore a Black Tux that looked great on her and hid the weight. Her hair was nice and wavy - she looked great actually!

She sang "Could this be the Magic" second and then "Once Upon a Time and I Love You". After that, the line up I don't remember exactly the order 'cause I was so moved at that point. She also sang "Try Me I Know We Can Make It", "Bad Girls", She Works Hard For the Money", "Dim All The Lights", "Enough is Enough", and a fantastic rendition of "Cold Love", "Smile", "Con Ti Partiro (slow in Italian) into the fast version of "I Will Follow You", "I Feel Love" and "Love to Love You Baby" (I was surprised that she sang that as I have never heard her do it live - after all she swore she wouldn't sing it any more!) Finally she had a roaring version of "Hot Stuff" and did her encore (of course) "Last Dance" (again at her best!)

I was lucky enough to have center stage seats - 12th row - in an amphitheater setting - the hall holds @ 3000 people and almost every seat was filled - people were up and dancing the entire show practically! I am forever grateful to have gotten another opportunity to see her and am happy that there are others who adore her as I do.

I DJ on the weekends and I managed to work her in more than usual as a result of my still heightened excitement from seeing her - even days later!
